We are pleased to share with you the UEMS Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Charter, which was formally adopted by the UEMS Council in Tbilisi on 18 October 2025.
This Charter represents an important milestone in the UEMS policy framework. It reaffirms the central role of CPD throughout a specialist’s professional life and sets out key principles regarding quality, ethics, patient safety, resources, and professional responsibility. It also provides a clear and coherent reference for National Medical Associations, UEMS Sections and Boards, Multidisciplinary Joint Committees, and other stakeholders involved in postgraduate medical education and professional development.
The UEMS CPD Charter has been developed under the auspices of the UEMS Executive, with a key contribution from the UEMS CME/CPD Working Group, and is issued on behalf of:
Prof. Vassilios Papalois, UEMS President
Dr João Grenho, UEMS Secretary-General
Dr Hannu Halila, Chairman of the UEMS CME/CPD Working Group and UEMS Past President
